Pediatric Ambulatory Services provides care and comfort for children who will undergo surgery and for their families. Many times we offer the first contact for patients and their families.
This can be a very stressful time for children and parents. Pediatric Ambulatory Services is dedicated to making their stay with us as comfortable as possible. For example, preoperative tours and play therapy help children and their families know what to expect and reduce their fears. Usually, parents can also stay with their children during sedation and be beside them during recovery, so that children never have to be awake without a familiar face nearby.

Surgical Staff
Pediatric Ambulatory Surgery staff are actively involved in improving their knowledge and skills through attending conferences and continuing education courses, obtaining certifications and participating in hospital-based committees.
Our pediatric surgeons regularly handle surgeries that range from routine outpatient procedures to extremely complex operations. When possible, they take advantage of advanced minimally invasive techniques, which can reduce the amount of pain, scarring and recovery that patients must do after surgery.
Medical City Children’s Hospital pediatric anesthesiologists understand the special requirements of treating children. Taking into account each child’s age, size and condition, they administer the proper sedation, anesthesia and pain management techniques.
