 Inpatient Unit

Our pediatric department treats every child with individualized care. From the moment they arrive until the time they leave, children receive the highest quality care from a team noted for its professionalism, camaraderie and dedication to caring for kids.

Our 62-bed pediatric inpatient unit is located in two places on the Medical City campus:

  • Sixth floor of Building D, for patients with a wide variety of conditions. Examples include hematology and oncology, congenital heart, nephrology, craniofacial and general surgical patients.
  • Sixth floor of the North Tower of Building A, for patients with diseases such as respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and asthma.

In both locations, all rooms are private rooms with TVs and DVD players available. To make patients of all ages, and their families, feel more comfortable during their stay, the unit includes playrooms, teen rooms and parent accommodations including laundry, shower, nourishment (refrigerator and complimentary beverages) and sleeping arrangements. Rooms in Building A feature full-sized beds for parents as well as children.

The pediatric department serves children from birth through age 18. Care continues under the same roof at Medical City from age 18 on. Along with diagnosis, care and treatment, the department offers pharmaceutical services and a range of therapy programs. In addition, dedicated Child Life and social work professionals tend to the emotional, psychological and social needs of both children and parents.
