The Transport Team at Medical City Children’s Hospital cares for patients en route to the hospital from around the region and around the country via ambulance, helicopter or airplane. The Transport Team is a specialized pediatric and neonatal team based on the Medical City campus. The team provides a full spectrum of care during patient transports and has completed more than 8,000 trips since it began operation in 1992.

Our Transport Team is the only medical transportation unit in the region exclusively staffed by registered nurses. These healthcare professionals are specially trained to handle all of your child’s needs, including mechanical ventilation and respiratory care.

The Transport Team focuses exclusively on your child’s care and safety during the hospital trip. Pilots fly the aircraft, and emergency medical technicians and paramedics drive the ambulances. While transporting a patient, the Transport Team is in contact with a medical control physician who is either a pediatric intensive care specialist or neonatologist.
